OUR CUSTOMER SAID...
Stovax Sheraton 5 Wide. Just had a new wood burner installed by Jonathan and his team at Continental Fireplaces. Work required to change fireplace, install new flue and hearth and install fire. We could not be more pleased with the service and the end result. From visiting the showroom, through to completion was a trouble free experience. Ashley, in the showroom was very helpful and knowledgeable and with his guidance we chose the right fireplace.
From Jonathan’s first visit to assess and quote for the work to the installation day, we were kept informed. Jonathan fully explained the pros and cons of our choices and guided us through the installation. Over the two days of the actual installation Jonathan and the team were brilliant, they worked extremely hard and professionally, leaving no mess and a perfect result. The new brick work is great the fireplace look fantastic and works perfectly.
A great experience and one company we would highly recommend and would not hesitate to use again. Once again thanks to all the team at Continental Fires at Church Stretton.
WHAT WE DID
We removed the customers existing stove and surround that they wanted to change.
We then knocked out the opening to the original inglenook size before laying the stunning Black Slate Hearth for the Sheraton 5 Wide stove to sit on.
Afterwards we replaced the liner and fitted the cowl to stop any water from coming down the chimney.
Next fitted was the surround, the beautiful Blenheim made by local stonemason in Bateig Diamonte stone.
Once the surround was up we sited the stove, connected the liner and commissioned the appliance to make sure it worked correctly.
“Quite simply a pleasure to work with such knowledgeable, reliable and friendly people. We wanted to replace an oil fired Aga-type cooker with an electric version and add a small wood-burning stove into our kitchen.”

Quite simply a pleasure to work with such knowledgeable, reliable and friendly people.
We wanted to replace an oil fired Aga-type cooker with an electric version and add a small wood-burning stove into our kitchen. In the showroom we received excellent advice and guidance on the options to consider. We received a site visit to check the recommendation and plan for installation.
We are delighted with our choices and with how the work has been undertaken. Continental Fireplaces were always on time; they dealt creatively and positively with a number of challenges (our house is very old); and they were unfailingly clean, tidy, considerate and friendly.
The administrative and after-sales care we have received has been faultless and we really feel we were treated as individuals, where everyone knew the job and what we were doing. I simply could not recommend them more highly!
WHAT WE DID
Our Client had very old Mill and wanted to change a Traditional Oil rangecooker for an modern electric range. They also wanted to install a small stove into an existing fireplace while still retaining the look of the surround.
With the Stove, the Brick cheeks were carefully removed to allow the space for the stove to sit, a new Slate hearth was laid and the new chimney liner was installed, repairs were made to the top of the chimney stack and the new brick cheeks were built internally.
The new stove was installed and the original pan hook was re-instated to retain the traditional look.
With the cooker, the existing oil cooker was removed, the existing chimney was re lined to use for the customers new extractor, the new cooker was installed and electrics were connected. New granite was fitted to the side and the rear of the cooker an was shaped to allow for the walls.
Both appliances were Tested, Commissioned and handed over to the customer.

“We wanted to replace an open fire in a 1980s mock stone fireplace surround, with an efficient log burner in an inglenook.”
OUR CUSTOMER SAID...
We wanted to replace an open fire in a 1980s mock stone fireplace surround, with an efficient log burner in an inglenook. Jeremy visited and we outlined what we wanted and he provided an acceptable quote for building a new fireplace, installing a fire and flue, in fact the complete job. The work would take 3 days from start to finish. And they could just fit us in, in the week before Christmas!
Whilst we changed our mind several times on the design, eventually we did make up our mind. All I can say is that they were very patient! The allotted day arrived and two men appeared who proceeded to roll back the carpet and cover all the furniture. By the end of day one, the old fireplace was out, an entry to the chimney, for the new flue was cut out and the first few rows of blocks and bricks, forming the new chamber, laid. Day 2 saw the rest of the false chimney breast completed in framework, the flue installed and the hearth laid. Day 3 and the plasterer arrived to plasterboard the chimney breast framework and plaster over the block work, leaving the handmade rustic bricks within the chamber exposed.
By mid-day on the third day they had tidied up and left, leaving the plasterer to get a perfect finish to his plasterwork At every stage, the men were keen to discuss the options, they didn’t assume anything. The process was totally stress free, they arrived and left when they said they would. They were very tidy workers and cleared up at the finish. Fully recommended.
WHAT WE DID
After discussions with the client to decide on the size and depth of the inglenook the customer wanted the carpets were rolled back and the brick work was laid out. The customer had sourced second hand reclaimed bricks for this project.
The bricks were laid to the level of the reclaimed timber beam, support and fire protection was fitted to the rear and underside of the timber. The flue system was installed in the clients existing chimney stack, a cowl was fitted to the top of the chimney.
Blocks were installed to close the top of the chimney breast, the hearth was cut and installed along with the final connection on the fire. Plasterboard and plastering to finish.
“We would like to thank you for our new Chesney’s Salisbury 5 stove and the extremely efficient way in which both Jonathan and Matt attended to the fitting of the stove.”

The open fire Vs. wood burner debate has been going on in our house for over four years. Now that we have finally had the stove fitted it has literally transformed our lives.
No more Rayburn fume problems, no more gale force droughts through the house and no more smoke blowing down the chimney.
The whole house has benefited from the heat from the stove. We cannot thank you enough for the excellent service from start to finish.
